School Social Work in the Trump Era

This has been a difficult week for those of us who care deeply about social justice.  Before Trump became president elect, he had already caused so much damage, with incidents of hate and bullying taking place at school all over the country.  This type of hate is nothing new for communities of color, except that now making blatant racist, xenophobic, sexists, homophobic, etc. comments have been normalized and we have effectively entered an era where "creating unity" is code for "keep silent."  As school social workers, we have a responsibility to act in support of the children and families that are hurting, scared, anxious, and have been rejected by their own country (yes, U.S citizen children of Latino or Muslim background are also the targets of hate).  I will continue to develop this post further, but I wanted to immediately have a place to post resources and links for addressing these issues in the schools and supporting our families and children.  Keep posted as I add resources here.
